ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Do You Qualify for a Skilled Visa?

Australia's skilled visa system uses a points-based assessment. Before submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI), applicants must meet a minimum threshold and demonstrate eligibility across several key criteria.

  • Skills Assessment — Your occupation must appear on a relevant skilled occupation list and be assessed by the designated assessing authority for your field.
  • Points Test — A minimum score of 65 points is required to submit an EOI via SkillSelect. Points are awarded for age, English proficiency, work experience, qualifications, and other factors.
  • Occupation Lists — Your nominated occupation must appear on the relevant occupation list for your chosen visa subclass (MLTSSL, STSOL, or ROL for regional visas).
  • English Language — Most skilled visas require Competent English as a minimum, with higher scores rewarding additional points.
  • Age — Applicants must be under 45 years of age at the time of invitation.
  • Health & Character — Standard Australian health examinations and police clearances apply.

Not sure if you qualify? Pathway offers an initial assessment to review your points score and occupation before you commit to a full application.
